Clinical study of restoration of fractured anterior teeth by orthodontic treatment

AIM: To discuss the different method of orthodontic treatment of fractured anterior teeth.METHODS: The data of 58 cases were collected from the department of orthodontics,school of stomatology,the fourth military medical university.Sixty-eight fractured incisors were divided into three groups based on the extent of fracture.In group A(with 1/4 crown fracture) teeth were extruded by orthodontic treatment with partial gingival cut in some cases.In group B(with about 1/2 crown fracture) teeth were directly or indirectly covered with Ca(OH)2 and then the fractured teeth were restored.In group C(with almost no crown left) the teeth were treated by root canal treatment(RCT).Then posts were placed in teeth and the crowns were restored temporarily.RESULTS: To fractured incisors after treated by various restorative methods,the brackets can be easily bound to the crown at the correct position.Not only the orthodontic treatment can be done smoothly,but certain esthetic effects could be obtained.CONCLUSION: The orthodontic treatment of fractured anterior teeth.May be complicated.After use of comprehensive restorative treatment methods,the orthodontists can bind the brackets easily and certain esthetic effects could be achieved.
