Effect of live-combined Bifidobacterium,Lactobacillus and Enterococcus capsules on plasma endotoxin in patients with chronic liver diseases

Objective To observe the effect of live-combined Bifidobacterium,Lactobacillus and Enterococcus(bifico triple viable) capsules on plasma endotoxin in patients with chronic liver diseases.Methods Totally 132 patients with chronic liver diseases were randomly divided into the treatment group(n=66) and the control group(n=66).The patients in the treatment group were administered with routine medication plus bifico triple viable capsules,the patients in the control group were administered with routine medication plus bacillus bifidus capsules.The course of treatment was 4 weeks.Clinical symptoms were evaluated.The hepatic function and plasma endotoxin were examined at the beginning as well as 2 and 4 weeks after treatment.Results The improvement rates of clinical symptoms and hepatic function were 24.2% and 68.2% respectively in the treatment group,whereas the total efficacy rates were 84.8% and 83.3% after 4 weeks treatment.The level of plasma endotoxin significantly decreased in the treatment group(P0.01),but there was no differece between two groups.Conclusion Bifico triple viable capsules may decrease the level of plasma endotoxin in patients with chronic liver diseases.
