On the Translator's Subjectivity Reflected in Cathy in the Light of George Steiner's Hermeneutic Motion

In translation activities, the translator, having his own subjectivity, is the medium between the author and target readers, the original text and the target text. The translator has his own subjectivity in the aspects of choosing the original text, the use of target language and using what style recreating the original text. However, owing to the principle offaithfulnessin the traditional translation theories, the translator's subjectivity has always been neglected. After thecultural turn, more attention is given to the translators. From the angle of the four motions of George Steiner and with the example of Pound's Cathy, this paper primarily probes into how the translator's subjectivity reflected in the translation process.
