Abstract

Objective To evaluate the safety and therapeutic efficacy for warfarin therapy compared with aspirin treatment to prevent cerebral embolism in patients with atrial fibrillation(AF).Methods Total of 200 case patients were divided into aspirin group administrated with aspirin treatment and warfarin group with warfarin.Comparison the rates of the cerebral embolism and complication of bleeding. Results The incidence rate of cerebral embolism were 3.30% and 6.82% in aspirin group and warfarin group respectively(P0.05).The incidence of bleeding complication in aspirin group and warfarin group were 3.41% and 13.18% respectively(P0.05).There were no occurrence of fatal bleeding in both group. Conclusion Warfarin therapy could reduce the incidence of cerebral embolism to prevent cerebral embolism in patients with atrial fibrillation. This therapy had favourable safety and efficacy at the target international normalized ratio(INR) of 2.0~3.0 during the treatment.
