Abstract
This thesis challenges the traditional translation theories concerning the binary hierarchy of author and translator, the source language and the target language and the afterlife of the translation, and puts forward the idea of translator-function according to Foucault's author-function in order to foreground the identity of the translator and stress the function of the translator in the course of translation.Translator-function focuses not only on the influence of the social cultural net on the translator, but also on the significance of the translator's cultural preference in the course of translation.
