Abstract

Objective To evaluate the curative effect of endovascular embolization with Gugliemi detachable coils (GDC) on the intracranial aneurysms. Methods The clinical data of 66 patients with intracranial aneurysms, which were endovascularly embolized by GDC,were analyzed retrospectively. Results Complete occlusion was achieved in 63 aneurysms and incomplete (95%) occlusion in 3.Of 66 patients with intracranial aneurysms,60 survived and 6 died.Following up from 3 months to 3 years showed that of 60 patients,51 were recovered well,7 slightly disabled and 2 severely disabled according to GOS.Six patients with postoperative hydrocephalus were treated by ventriculo-peritoneal shunt. Conclusion The endovascular embolization with GDC to treat the intracranial aneurysms is a safe and effective method.
