Abstract
The chemical constituent of Cassia occidentalis is studied in this work. The compounds were isolated by column chromatography on silica gel,Sephadex LH-20and recrystallization.Their structures were determined on the basis of physico-chemical properties and spectroscopic methods such as 1 H-NMR and 13C-NMR.Five compounds were isolated from the chloroform fraction of 95%ethanolic extract of Cassia occidentalis seeds. They were identified as physcion(1);stigmasterol(2);5,7′-biphyscion(3);monopalmitin(4);stigmasterol-3-β-Dglucopyranoside(5),respectively.The last three compounds(3,4and 5)are isolated from the Cassia occidentalis for the first time.
