Observation on the Two Methods in the Treatment with Neovascular Glaucoma

[Objective] To investigate the therapeutic effects of glaucoma valve combined with retina cryocoagulation and retina photocoagulation in the treatment with neovascular glaucoma(NVG).[Methods]From June 2005 to June 2007,42 patients with NVG were included,among whom 25 underwent glaucoma valve combined with retina cryocoagulation(A group),and 17 underwent retina photocoagulation.The visual acuity,intraocular pressure and complications were observed after operation.[Results]The increase of visual acuity in A group was better than that in B group,which there was a significant difference between the two groups(P0.05).Intraocular pressure in group A was significant lower than that in group B in 1 week postoperation but no significant differences in 2 months,6 months,18 months postoperation(P0.05).Iris neovascular all fell back at different levels after operation,there was no significant difference between the two groups(P0.05).The complications such as hyphema were significant lower in group A(P0.05),while early hypotony and drainage tube occlusion were no significant differences(P0.05).[Conclusion] The glaucoma valve combined with retina cryocoagulation in treatment with NVG can not only increase the outflow of aqueous humor but reduce retinal ischemia and anoxia.The approach can reach an ideal effect.
