A Study on the Relationship Between Yelang,West Bo and the Origin of Zhaotong Administrative Region

There were a great numbers of seigneur states and tribes in the areas of today's southwestern Sichuan,northeastern Yunnan and western Guizhou from spring and autumn period to the Western Han Dynasty about six hundred years.These seigneur states and tribes stack up against each other.Some of them such as Bo,ZangKe,Yelang were their famous representative and made a regional breakthrough.They are not only participated in the Central Plains League,but also kept on touch with surrounding kingdom(e.g.Ba,Chu,Qiongdu and Dian).Since Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty conquered the Southwest Barbarians,he had been setting up Qianwei prefecture in the Bo people'aera,and compared with ZangKe prefecture in Yelang Kingdom,Yizhou prefecture in Dian Kingdom,Yuexi in Qiongdu'aera based on the realistic situation of the local tribe.Among them,Yelang including today's western Zhaotong and Hezhang,Weining etc of the Guizhou province.At that time,there is a Bohou State(the state of Bo Marquises) within the territory of Zhaotong which compared with Yelang Kingdom.So the area of the southern Qianwei prefecture(now is the region of Zhaotong) is also known as West Bo.
