Abstract

Idleness on Ninth Day And Foreword is Tao Yuanming's only Double Ninth Festival poem to chant the chrysanthemum, and this poem has deep influence in Tang Dynasty. This article gives a brief analysis about the Ninth Idleness, aiming at expressing the feeling of longing for a long life of Tao Yuanming himself. But,through the Tang Dynasty, the acceptance of Tao Yuanming's longing for longer life, was replaced by some new concepts, such as emotional trust and life feelings. The causes may be approximately analyzed as follows:the openness of chrysanthemum in Tao's poem and the Buddhist prosperity vanished. The first reason causes the Chinese to accept the new concepts that is different from Tao's poem, and the second reason makes this difference necessary.
