Abstract
Objective To investigate the panax ginseng powder on the serum electrolyte in the rats. Methods 240 rats were randomly divided into 4 groups, and each group consisted of 10 males and 10 females. The group 2-4 received growth panax ginseng at a serial dose of 8.0,6.5,5.0 g/kg for 180 days, control group received normal feed. The serum electrolyte were measured by the inferior vena cava blood of the rats in the 45th,90th and 180th days. Results Compared with the control group, the panax ginseng powder on serum electrolytes Na+,K+,Cl-was no significant difference(P0.05).Rats fed ginseng powder as the time,Na+ concentration gradually increased in the control group and the high, medium and low-dose groups,Na+ concentrations in the serum were significantly different on the 45th day and the 180th day(P0.05).Conclusion Long-term consumption of ginseng powder is no marked change on the serum electrolyte in normal rats, the serum electrolyte can be used as toxicological safety evaluation supporting indicators.
