Effects of Xuebijing Injection on Acute Severe Parquat Poisoning

Abstract

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the clinical efficacy of Xuebijing injection in treating acute paraquat poisoning.METHODS:35 patients with acute severe parquat poisoning who were admitted into ICU of our hospital from Jan.2002 to Apr.2008 were enrolled in our study:15 cases were assigned to control group,20(treatment group)received Xuebijing 100 mL bid for 7～10 d in addition to the therapy as in control group.RESULTS:Liver enzyme and creatinine levels in both group were reduced,with the level in the treatment group significantly lower than in control group(P0.05).The oxygen pressure after one week was significantly higher in treatment group than in control group(P0.05).The mortality was also significantly lower in treatment group than in control group(P0.05).CONCLUSION:Early application of Xuebijing injection can protect major organs from injury induced by parquat and reduce the mortality of parqaut poisoning.
