Abstract
Objective To investigated the efficacy and safety of wheat kernel(Fiberform)on the treatment of old-aged functional constipation.Methods Self-controlled clinical trial using Fiberform was conducted for 2 weeks in 30 cases of patients with functional constipation.Symptoms and the character of feces before and after the treatment were observed and evaluated according to a score scheme.Results The score of symptoms and character of the feces were decreased significantly(P0.01)after treatment.No adverse event such as abdominal distention,pain or diarrhea was observed during the administration of treatment.Conclusion Fiberform is effective and safe in the treatment of old-aged functional constipation.
