The unprecedented and advanced material progress has improved people's living quality;however,it has also brought about such serious social problems as environmental pollution,ecological destruction and energy crisis and growing conflict between man and nature,hence posing a threat to human survival and social development.To these worldwide difficulties and crises,sustainable development is the only solution.Therefore,it is of great significance to interpret the concept of sustainable development from the philosophical perspective at the turn of the 21st century.
