Although the concept of sustainable development has been widely accepted in the world, it didn't gain much success in practice. Therefore, it's greatly important to do some research on the advancement and essence of the sustainable development for the practising of modern society's sustainable development. First, this concept is original and lasting, also an old but new topic. Next, the concept has been advanced with the ecological crisis getting more serious. It's an active choice of human beings in face of living crisis. Last, the concept of development plays an active part in eliminating the shortcomings of the traditional concept. And it embodies human's completely new ethical spirit.\;
