Abstract
Objective:To explore the potential mechanism underlying tumor necrosis factorα (TNFα) on vascular endothelial cell (VEC) damage. Methods:By using cytometry technique,we studied the effects of TNFα on apoptosis of human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVECs) in vitro, and inhibitory effect of antiTNFα monoclonal antibody (McAb) on apoptosis in TNFα induced programmed cell death (PCD).Results:TNFα was able to induce apoptosis of HUVECs and treatment with antiTNFα McAb protected from TNFαinduced apoptosis in a time and dosedependent fashion. Conclusions:These data suggest that apoptosis may play a role in TNF αinduced damage of vascular endothelial cells.
