Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of simple internal fixation and external fixation in the treatment of complex Pilon fractures. Methods 80 cases of patients with complex Pilon fractures treated in our hospital from February 2013 to February 2014 were selected and randomly divided into observation group and control group, with 40 cases in each group. Patients in the observation group were treated with limited internal fixation combined with external fixation, while patients in the control group were treated with open reduction and internal fixation. The conditions of articular surface reduction, clinical effects and complications of the two groups were compared. Results The reduction of articular surface of the two groups had no statistical difference(P 0.05). The excellent and good rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, with statistical difference(P 0.05). The incidence of complications between the two groups had no statistical difference(P 0.05). Conclusions Both limited internal fixation combined with external fixation and simple internal fixation can effectively restore the articular surface of complex Pilon fractures, but the former method is more accurate.
