Expression and Significance of Caspase-3 and Caspase-6 in Gastric Cancer

Objective To detect the expression of Caspase-3 and Caspase-6 in gastric cancer and adjacent normal tissues,and to explore the relationship among Caspase-3,Caspase-6 and clinicopathologic parameters.Methods The expression of Caspase-3 and Caspase-6 gene was detected by RT-PCR in 42 cases of gastric cancer and 42 cases of adjacent normal tissue,and their relationships with the clinicopathologic parameters of gastric cancer were analyzed.Results There were obvious differences in Caspase-3 expression and Caspase-6 expression between gastric cancer tissues(38.09% and 31.05%,respectively) and adjacent tissues(78.57% and 69.05%,respectively)(P0.01).The expression of Caspase-3 and Caspase-6 was not correlated with the age,gender and tumor size(P0.05),but was correlated with tumor invasion depth and tumor differentiation(P0.05).The expression of Caspase-3(P0.05),but not Caspase-6,was correlated with lymph node metastasis(P0.05).In gastric cancer tissues,there was no correlation between Caspase-3 expression and Caspase-6 expression(P0.05).Conclusion The down-regulation of Caspase-3 and Caspase-6 expression may be associated with the occurrence and development of gastric cancer.Combined detection of Caspase-3 and Caspase-6 expression can significantly reflect the biological behavior of gastric cancer compared with the single detection.
