Abstract

Objective:To analyze the application efficacies of upper arm placement of peripherally inserted central venous catheters using ultrasound guidance and modified Seldinger technique with traditional method.in patients who received parenteral nutrition. Methods:A total of 40 PICC patients who will receive pareteral nutrition were divided into the observational group(n=20) and control group(n=20).The patients of the observational group were treated with PICC puncture using ultrasound guidance and modified Seldinger technique. While the control group were treated with traditional method. Results:No significant differences were found on the incidence of phlebitis, infection, catheter obstruction average days of placed catheter and the supplies cost(P0.05),but there was significant differences on incidence of hemorrhage of insertion sites and maintenance numbers(P0.05).Conclusion:The method of PICC insertion utilizing ultrasound guidance and modified Seldinger technique can reduce the incidence of hemorrhage of insertion sites, maintenance numbers and can not increase economic burden.
