Abstract
Peptidogtycan recognition proteins(PGRPs)are pattern recognition molecules that recognize bac- teria and their unique cell wall component,peptidoglycan(PGN),so they play an important role in recognis- ing and regulating in the innate immunity.Organisms recognize mass of different pathogens by limited pat- tern recognition receptors,and defense against invading pathogens effectively in time.In these years, PGRPs have been studied on insects and mammals to some extent,and some PGRPs genes have been cloned successfully.The research of PGRPs reveals a new paper of the innate immune system,and is important to understand the response mechanism of the whole immune system.This review focuses on gene,structure, expression,function and envolution of PGRPs.
