Abstract
The innate immune system is a primitive mechanism,which exists commonly in vertebrates and invertebrates and is responsible for defending against invading microorganisms.Peptidoglycan recognition proteins(PGRPs)are pattern recognition receptors(PRRs)that recognize bacteria and their unique cell wall component,peptidoglycan(PGN),so they play an important role in recognizing and regulating in the innate immunity.The research of PGRPs is important to understand the response mechanism of the innate immune system.This paper reviewed the recent progress on the peptidoglycan recognition proteins(PGRPs)including structure,functions,signal pathway and its interaction with peptidoglycan in innate immune system.
