Mao Zedong's Influence on Western Cultural Politics

In China,people tend to selectively preserve and memorize Mao Zedong's legacy,particularly Mao Zedong's late years: He was characterized as the person mistakenly launching the Cultural by Chinese authority.In the West,we can remember that Mao's thoughts has thrilling impact on the Leftist during the Cold War and the generation born in the year of 1968,but we can hardly understand its influence on the cultural politics pattern since 1970s,when Cultural Wars developed overwhelmingly between Leftist and Rightist in the West,including a series of striking movements and events.Through exploring historical cases,it is our attempt to describe Mao Zedong's potential influence on education reform,culture,social movement of the community,and legislative changes.Mao Zedong's instructions,like self-criticism,youth's rebellion,consciousness raising,has developed longer and more profoundly in the West than in China.Nowadays,a series of Leftist debates,such as priority should be given whether to social justice or to cultural justice,has colored Mao Zedong thoughts.The output of Mao Zedong thoughts has made great contributions for us to understand the changing relationship between culture and politics,whether we are in the Great Cultural Revolution or in the Cultural Wars.
