The Efficacy of Huxin Capsule in the Treatment of Chronic Heart Failure of the Aged

Objective:To observe the clinical effect and security of huxin capsule in treating heart failure of the aged.Methods:106 patients of the aged with heart failure were randomly divided into two groups.46 patients in control group were treated by routine treatment of western medicine,the amount of digoxin 0.125mg/d.60 patients in treatment group were treated by combination of routine therapy,the amount of digoxin 0.0625mg/d,and huxin capsule,5 pills,three times a day.The course was 30 days in two groups.The changes of overall curative effect and heart function of heart failure patients were observed.Results: The total effective rate was 92.6% in treatment group and 74.1% in control group.There was a significant difference between two groups on total effective rate(P0.05).The improvement of heart function including cardiac output(CO),stroke volume(SV),LVEF and A/E ratio in treatment group were superior to those in the control group(P0.05).The control group had 3 cases of digitalis toxicity,while the treatment group had no adverse events.Conclusion:Huxin capsule was a safe and effective medicine in the treatment of heart failure of the aged.It can reduce the amount of digoxin and reduce the incidence of digoxin toxicity.
