Abstract

OBJECTIVE:To observe clinical efficacy of budesonide alone or combined with montelukast sodium in the treatment of pediatric cough variant asthma.METHODS:According to the different treatment methods,64 cases of pediatric cough variant asthma in our hospital during Jan.2009~Jun.2010 were randomly divided into group A(montelukast sodium+ budesonide) and group B(budesonide) with each group of 32 cases. The clinical efficacies of 2 groups were compared.RESULTS:After a course of treatment, the total effective rate and recurernce rate of group A was better than that of group B.The time of cough relief, cough disappearance time in group A were shorter than in group B,there was significant difference between 2 groups(P0.05).CONCLUSION:Montelukast sodium combined with budesonide is better than budesonide alone in the treatment of pediatric cough variant asthma. It is effective to control acute asthma attack, relieve clinical symptoms and signs with low recurrence rate and no significant side effects.
