Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of acupuncture plus indirect moxibustion in treating post-stroke urinary incontinence. Methods Sixty-one patients with post-stroke urinary incontinence were randomly allocated to a treatment group of 31 cases and a control group of 30 cases. The treatment group received acupuncture plus indirect moxibustion and the control group, acupuncture alone.Urinary voiding frequencies and maximum bladder capacities were compared between the two groups of patients after three courses of treatment. Results Voiding frequency improved significantly in the two groups of patients after treatment(P 0.01).There was a statistically significant post-treatment difference in maximum bladder capacity between the two groups of patients(P0.01).Conclusion Acupuncture plus indirect moxibustion can clinically improve the therapeutic effect on post-stroke urinary incontinence. Its effect is superior to that of acupuncture alone.
