The content and components of the intelligent switchgear are analyzed. The effect of microcomputer processing, sensing, status monitoring and fault diagnosing technique in the intelligent control of high voltage electrical apparatus is discussed. Some research accomplishments in this field are also introduced. The development trend and application foreground of high voltage intelligent switchgear are prospected.
