Abstract
In this paper a new method for the spectrophotometric determination of iron(Ⅲ) with piperonal fluorone(PIF) has been developed. In the presence of cetyl pyridine bromide(CPB),iron(Ⅲ) reacts with PIF to form a stable blue complex with an absorption peak at 635nm.The molar ratio of Fe(Ⅲ)/PIF in the complex is estimated to 1∶2.The calibration graph is linear over the concentration range 0.00-0.24μg of iron(Ⅲ) in 1mL.The apparent molar absorptivity is 1.26×10 5L·mol -1 ·cm -1 .It has been applied to the determination of microamount iron in some agents with satisfactory results.
