Abstract

The development of embedded real-time system has grown to a hot topic in current computer research and application. This paper presents a platform based design methodology for rapid development of embedded real-time system, which incorporates the idea of the platform-independent and platform-specific model of Model Driven Architecture.First,we build a hard real-time operating system platform by using the Embedded Linux Operating System with the Real-Time Application Interface. Then, the model of the real system is created and simulated and the real-time driver model is exploited by using the Matlab/Simulink/Real-Time Workshop combined with RTAI-Lab tools and executable code is automatically generated. Finally, the code is loaded to the embedded real-time system. An embedded real-time controller system for the inverted pendulum is designed, which shows that this methodology can reduce the design complexity of the system effectively and exploit the embedded software with greater efficiency.
