Ratio between effects and values of artificial noses on ventilated patients

Abstract

Objective To investigate the ratio between effects and values of artificia l noses on venti lated patients with artificial airway. Methods 108 patients on me chanical ventilation with artificial airway were randomized into control group a nd artificial nose group. The indexes of nursing items of conventional manage of artificial airway, daily nursing hours and charges, incidence of pneumonia etc. were compared between control group and artificial nose group. Results The daily nursing items of conventional manage of artificial airway in cont rols, such as humidity, atomization, rinsing, sucking sputum, dumpage of hydroce le in tube, replacing distilled water, slapping the back of patients etc. had si gnificantly increased compared with artificial nose group. And the daily nursing hours and charges, incidence of pneumonia, sucking sputum and alveolar lavage b y fiber bronchoscope had also significantly higher than compared with artificial nose group. Conclusion The use of artificial noses had an excell ent ratio between effects and values and should be recommended to use and develo p for clinical application.
