Abstract

Objective:To summarize the clinical experience of laparoscopic operation in the treatment of inguinal hernia. Methods:The clinical data of 140 patients who suffered from inguinal hernia and underwent laparoscopic operation were retrospectively analyzed, including 116 cases of indirect hernia( 9 cases were incarcerated hernias) and 24 cases of direct hernia.120 patients underwent transabdominal preperitoneal( TAPP) hernia repair and 20 patients received totally extraperitoneal( TEP) herniorrhaphy. Results:All operations were successful,no one was converted to open operation. The operative time of TAPP was( 42.6 ± 4.3) min( range,30-61 min);postoperative hospital stay was( 3.5 ± 1.3) d( range,3-7 d).The operative time of TEP was( 41.3 ± 5.2) min( range,33-58 min);postoperative hospital stay was( 3.4 ± 1.5) d( range,3-6 d).6 cases of seroma or effusion,2 cases of transient sensory abnormalities occurred,no other complications were found, such as incision infection.Patients were followed up for 4 to 48 months( median:16 months),no relapse occurred. Conclusions:Laparoscopic operation is safe and reliable, has advantages in the treatment of inguinal hernia, such as easy operation, small incision, quick recovery, satisfying long-term effect.
