An Analysis of the Sustainable Development Based on the Theory of Ecological Footprint——A Case Study of Shihezi

Abstract

Based on the theory model of ecological footprint,the ecological footprints of Shihezi are analyzed and evaluated according to the data of the statistical yearbooks.Results show that the ecological footprint per capita is 2.477327 hm2 and the ecological carrying capacity per capita is 1.500542 hm2 in 2008,the ecological deficit per capita is 0.976785 hm2.The high ecological deficit shows that the human load had already gone beyond the regional bio-capacity.The area is in a weak un-sustainable status.
