An Analysis of the Regional Economic Difference in China Based on Theil Index and Gini Coefficient

Abstract

The composition of regional economic difference in China was analyzed with the decomposition method of Theil indices and Gini coefficients in the aspects of spatial structure and industrial structure from 1978 to 2008.The results show that the differences of the secondary industry and inter-zone are still major factors leading to regional economic differences,which has been recognized as the important contributor of recent Chinese regional disparities.
