Abstract
The color reaction of 2 (H acidazo) 4,5 dinitrophenol(HADNP) with iron(Ⅲ) was studied. In pH5.3 NaAc HAc buffer solution, HADNP can reacts with iron(Ⅲ) to form 3∶1 purpureal stable complex. The molar absorptivity is 1.7×10 4L·mol -1 ·cm -1 at 590nm. Beer's law is obeyed in the range of 0—1.0mg/L for iron (Ⅲ). This method can be applied to the determination of iron(Ⅲ) in tap water with satisfactory results.
