Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the efficacy of pediatric adenoidectomy in treating otitis media with effusion and snoring in children. Methods:A retrospective study was performed to analyse the clinical characteristics, therapeutic methods and prognosis from 89 children in hospital undergoing adenoidectomy to treat otitis media with effusion or snoring. Results:The conditions of 89 children were remarkably improved after removal of the hypertrophic adenoids. The total clinical effectiveness rate and cure rate were 100% and 87%,respectively.Conclusion:Hypertrophic adenoid is the fundamental cause of pediatrics secretory otitis media and snoring. The removal of hypertrophic adenoids is a safe and effective method of treating otitis media with effusion and snoring in children.
