Abstract
Removal of oil from synthetic wastewater by the Fenton process has been investigated by means of colorimetric assay.The factors affecting oil removal efficiency,such as reaction time,pH,temperature,and dosage of H2O2 and Fe2+ have been systematically examined and the optimal conditions found to be as follows: pH 3.0,H2O2 dosage 40 mmol/L,Fe2+ dosage 4 mmol/L and temperature 30 ℃ with reaction period of 2 h.Under these conditions,for an initial oil concentration in the water sample of 120 mg/L,an oil removal efficiency of 48.4% was obtained The results may provide a basis for the practical application of this process in the treatment of oil-containing wastewater.
