Abstract
Objective: To investigate the baseline immune function status in the elderly type 2 diabetic patients by analyzing the changes in peripheral blood lymphocyte subsets. Methods: Lymphocyte subsets in the peripheral blood were detected by flow cytometry in 60 elderly patients with type 2 diabetes and 56 old control subjects. Results: The percentage of CD3+,CD19+,CD4+ lymphocytes,NK cells and the ratio of CD4+/CD8+ in diabetic group were lower than those in control group(P0.05),but the percentage of CD8+ cell was higher than that in control group(P0.05).Conclusion: The T lymphocyte immunological functions in the elderly patients with type 2 diabetes are generally inhibited.Detection of the variations of lymphocyte subsets in peripheral blood can be used in immune function monitoring for the elderly patients with type 2 diabetes.
