Abstract

Objective To observe the expression of EGFR and p27kip1 in gliomas and investigate their significance.Method SP immunohistochemical staining was used to examine the expression of EGFR and p27kip1 in 60 ases with glioma specimens and 5 normal human brain tissue specimens. Results In 60 cases of glioma,39 cases showed EGFR and 20 cases showed p27kip1 expression. There was negative expression of EGFR normal brain tissue. The psotive expression of EGFR was 52.4%,60.9%,87.5% in gradeⅡ,Ⅲ,Ⅳ glioma respectively. The positive expression rate of p27kip1 was 80.0 % in normal brain tissue. The postive expression of p27kip1 was 57.1%,26.1%,12.5%in gradeⅡ,Ⅲ,Ⅳ glioma respectively(P0.05).EGFR was positively related to the pathological grades of glioma, but p27kip1 was negatively related to the pathological grades of glioma. Conclusions The expression of EGFR and p27kip1 are related to malignant degree of gliomas, their abnormal expression plays possibly the promoting roles in glioma formation.
