Abstract

[Purpose] To study the expression of p57KIP2, Ki-67 in human glioma and its significance. [Methods] The expression of p57KIP2 and Ki-67 proteins in 50 cases with glioma was detected by SP immunohistochemical technique. [Results] The p57KIP2 protein positive rate in human glioma was 34%, which was lower than that in normal brain tissue (80%,P0.01). The Ki-67 positive rate in human glioma was 66%, which was higher than that in normal brain tissue (15%, P0.01). The positive expression of p57KIP2 and Ki-67 both correlated significantly with grade of differentiation and the 2-year survival. There were significant correlation between the expression of p57KIP2 protein and Ki-67 protein (P0.05,rs=-0.292). [Conclusion] The expression level of p57KIP2 protein correlates significantly with proliferating activity of tumor cells, and plays an important role in oncogenesis of human glioma. Combined detection of p57KIP2 and Ki-67 is helpful for evaluating cell proliferating activity of tumor cells and the prognosis.
