Abstract
The distortional buckling may occur for cold-formed thin-walled steel open cross-section members except local buckling and overall buckling. The distortional buckling and interaction with local and overall buckling may decrease the ultimate load-carrying capacity of members and change mechanical properties. The characteristics of distortional buckling of cold-formed thin-walled steel members were introduced, experimental and theoretical research status of distortional buckling were summarized, and design methods of distortional buckling using different national code were described in this paper, including 'North American specification for the design of cold-formed steel structural members(AISI S100—2007)','Australian/New Zealand standard for cold-formed steel structures(AS/NZS 4600∶2005)','Supplementary rules for cold formed thin gauge members and sheeting(EN 1993-1-3∶2006)','Code practice for design of cold-formed thin gauge sections(BS 5950—5∶1998)' and 'Technical code of cold-formed thin-wall steel structures(GB 50018—2002)'.Based on the review analysis, some problems about distortional buckling of cold-formed thin-walled steel members were presented.
