Abstract
Objective To assess the mental health status of normal university students. Methods Approximately 1 380 students were tested with Symptom Checklist-90 in Anhui Normal University. Results The normal university students surveyed had lower the mental health levels than the national norm, the prevalence of psychological symptoms was 12.83%. Students of liberal arts than students studying in science department had more problems on interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety and phobic anxiety, female were inferior to males in obsessive-compulsive,depression, anxiety and phobic anxiety factors. The mental health level of the fourth grade students was the lowest. Conclusion Mental health promoting activities should be developed according to mental health characteristics of normal university students.
