Abstract
Approximately 1173 freshmen were tested with Symptom Checklist-90 in a Normal University .The results showed that the mental health level of the freshmen was lower than the national norm and the prevalence of psychological symptoms was 9.46%; Female students were inferior to male students in depression ,anxiety and phobic anxiety factors ; Students from coutrysides than students from cities had more problems in interpersonal sensitivity, depression ,anxiety and psychotism; Non-only children than only children had more problems in interpersonal sensitivity, depression, obsessive-compulsive and phobic anxiety.
