Effects of Rosiglitazone on Serum matrix metalloproteinase 2 in Patients with early Type 2 Diabetic Nephropathy

Objective Purpose Aim to study the effects of rosiglitazone on levels of serum matrix metalloproteinase 2(MMP-2)in patients with type 2 diabetic nephropathy.Methods 80 cases of type 2 diabetic nephropathy patients were selected,46 cases of male and 34 cases of female,urinary albumin excretion rate(UAER) was all between 20-200 μg/min.The patients were randomly divided into two groups:rosiglitazone group(A group of 40 patients),control group(B group of 40 cases) for parallel controlled clinical study.Zymography Detection was used to evaluate serum MMP-2 of two groups before and after 16 weeks of treatment.Results ①the FBG levels decreased in control group after treatment compared with those before treatment(P0.05);HbA1c levels decreased in control group after treatment compared with those before treatment,but there is no significant difference(P0.05);the levels of TG、TC、LDL-C and UAER significantly decreased in control group after treatment compared with those before treatment(P0.01);the levels of HDL-C and serum MMP-2 significantly increased in control group after treatment compared with those before treatment(P0.01).②the levels of FBG、HbA1c、TG、TC、LDL-C and UAER significantly decreased in rosiglitazone-treatment group after treatment compared with those before treatment(P0.01);the levels of HDL-C and serum MMP-2 significantly increased in rosiglitazone-treatment group after treatment compared with those before treatment(P0.01).③FBG and UAER levels decreased more significantly after treatment in rosiglitazone-treatment group compared with those in control group(P0.01);serum MMP-2 increased more significantly after treatment in rosiglitazone-treatment group(P0.01).④the increased serum MMP-2 in rosiglitazone-treatment group after treatment has no correlation with the changes of FBG、HbA1c、TG、TC、LDL-C、HDL-C and UAER.Conclusion The renal protective effects of Rosiglitazone maybe partly due to its effects of up-regulating the serum MMP-2 levels in patients with type 2 diabetic nephropathy.
