Abstract
The vinyl acetate-butyl acrylate emulsion was synthesized by seeded semibatch emuision polymerization with vinyl acetate(VAC) and butyl acrylate(BA) as the main raw material and the TAC and HEA as cross-linking monomer. The products were characterized by particle size tester, FTIR and contact angle tester. The monomer conversion was 98.3% and the gelation rate could be controlled at about 0.5% when m(VAC)∶m(BA) = 3∶2, w(OP-10+SDS)=3.5% and w(APS)=0.6%.The water absorption was decreased to 8.5% and the contact angle between membrane and water was 69.5°when w(TAC) was 1.6%.
