Abstract

Objective:To study the expression and correlation between β-catenin and survivin in oral squamous cell carcinoma(oscc).Method:The immunohistochemistry SP method was used to study the expression of surviving and β-catenin in 60 cases of OSCC and 20 of normal oral mucosa. tissue. Result:in the 20 normal cases,β- catenin was positively expressed while survivin was not expressed. In 60 cases of OSCC,the abnormal expression rate of β-catenin was 70%,and the positive expression rate of survivin was 66.7%. In this study,the expression of β-catenin and surviving was significantly correlated with lymph node metastasis status(P0.05),but not with histological differentiation,clinical stage,location of the tumor or sex and age of the patients(P0.05). The abnormal expression of β-catenin and the positive expression of survivin had a significant positive correlation with OSCC(P0.05,r=0.231).Conclusion:The expression of β-catenin and survivin may have synergistic effect on the carcinogenesis and progression of OSCC.
