Breeding and Application of New Hybrid Late Rice Combination “Xiannong 10”

A mid-maturing late indica rice variety “Xiannong 10” was bred by crossing between good quality male sterile line “Zhong 9A” and strong restoring line “R254” bred by Seed Company of Jiangxi Province. According to the results of regional tests for mid-maturing late rice in Jiangxi province during 2003～2004, the average yield of “Xiannong 10” is 7026.9kg/hm~2. Compared with “Shanyou 46”, “Xiannong 10” is characterized by high and stable yield, ideal plant type, wide adaptability, high resistability, and high seed productive yield. It is suitable for “Xiannong 10” to be planted as late rice in middle and lower reaches of the Changjiang River.
