Breeding and Application of Good Quality Early-maturing Late Indica Rice Combination “Tyou 968”

A early-maturing late indica rice variety “Tyou 968” was bred by crossing between good quality male sterile line “T98A” and strong restoring line “R968” bred by Rice Research Institute of JAAS. The combination has more valid panicles, high setting rate, good rice quality, strong resistability and high seed productive yield. It is suitable to be planted as early-maturing late rice in middle and lower reaches of the Changjiang River and as early rice in South China.
