Abstract

Objective To explore the clinical characteristics of congenitally simple missing permanent teeth and pro vide references and basis for clinical therapy. Methods Clinical data of 260 patients with congenitally simple missing permanent teeth were analyzed retrospectively. The clinical characteristics of missing third molar, distribution of miss ing teeth and gender difference were examined and analyzed. Results The prevalence of the missing third molar was 25.7% and the missing rate of maxilla was significant higher than the missing rate of mandibule. The rank of missing teeth distribution was mandibular second premolar, mandibular central incisor, maxillary lateral incisor, maxillary sec ond premolars and mandibular lateral incisor. No significant differences were observed on the prevalence of congenital ly simple missing permanent teeth between the maxillary and mandibular, the left and the right, men and women(P 0.05).Besides,the missing teeth of 180 cases(69.2%) were distributed symmetrically on the left and right sides. Conclusion Except the third molar, mandibular second premolar is the most vulnerable missing teeth. The intervention and treatment should be took in advance to improve the satisfaction degree of patients with congenitally simple missing permanent teeth.
