Correlation between TCM Syndromes and Emotional Status of Functional Dyspepsia Patients

Abstract

Objective To discuss the correlation between TCM syndromes of functional dyspepsia(FD) and the emotional status of patients.Methods During 2001 to 2006,the 1000 patients of the peptic departments in Beijing Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital and the Third Hospital of Beijing University,of them,267 FD patients,were randomly selected for observation.Questionnaire-investigation was employed to get their data on temper,related symptoms,as well as manifestations of tongue and pulse.Results The emotional status of FD patients in all TCM syndromes were statistically significant(P0.01).The liver qi stagnation syndrome and the liver qi stagnation with spleen deficiency syndrome were mostly related with emotional depression.Conclusion FD possibly relates mainly with the function of liver in dominating the free flow of qi.
