Abstract

Objective The clinical outcome of esomeprazole-based triple therapy for the eradication of helicobacter pylori(HP) infection and the efficacy on healing of duodenal ulcer was reviewed. Methods 90 patients with Hp infection proven by rapid urease test, and active duodenal ulcar by endoscopy were divided at random into two groups: the treatmeat group and the control group; 45 cases in treatmeat group were treated with esomeprazole 20mg bid and amoxicillin lg bid together with clarithromycin 0.5g bid for 7 days; 45 cases in control group were treated with omeprazole 20mg bid and amoxicillin 1g bid together with clarithromycin 0.5g bid,for one week, continue with omeprazole 20mg qd for three weeks. The eradication rate of Hp and the healing rates of duodenal ulcer were observed by endscopy on the 28th day. After completion of treatment and recording degree of the relieves of the symptoms. Results 90 patients completed the study. The ulcer healing rates and the efficacious rates of the treatment group were 97.8% and 100%,the control group were 93.3% and 100%,there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups(P0.05); The eradication rate of Hp in the two groups were 88.9% and 86.7%,there was no Statistically Significant difference between the two groups(P0.05). Conclusions Esomeprazole-based triple therapy one week in the patient of duodenal ulcer have highly eradication rate of Hp and ulcer healing rate.
