Abstract

There are 5 main types of the diminutive in Huangshantou dialect:reduplication,suffix of 儿、伢、子 and prefix of 吖吖.The suffix of 子 is mainly relative diminutive and the other four are mostly absolute.The reduplication and the suffix of 子,儿 and 伢 show features of the Southwest Mandarin,but the prefix of 吖吖displays the local characteristics.
